Aloe Vera

 

According to research, polysaccharides and growth hormones in aloe stimulate your skin to produce new cells. This helps wounds to heal more quickly.

Those same polysaccharides also bind moisture to your skin, which is helpful when you’re dealing with chapped lips.

Aloe vera also stimulates blood circulation to the area where it’s applied. It contains antioxidant vitamins like A and C, which may help neutralize damage from environmental toxins.

Vitamin E

 

Vitamin E oil has humectant properties that hydrate and emollient properties which support the skin barrier.  It can also help blood circulation, speed up cell generation, and make the lips smoother, plumper and softer.  

Vitamin E oil for lips has been shown to have photoprotective properties that help shield lips from damage and soothe them from any sun-caused injury.

Some research has shown that Vitamin E can speed up wound healing.

Research has shown that using Vitamin E oil on your lips may protect them from premature ageing and even reverse damage as well as improve lip texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Olive Oil

 

Olive oil is rich in vitamins A, D, K, and E.  It's a potent antioxidant with very high concentrations of squalene and oleocanthal, which are what help it to prevent and reverse damage.  

It hydrates the skin by retaining mositure and may be able to lessen the effects of UV rays.

Arnica

 

Arnica is a remedy that's been used for centuries.  It has been show just as effective as NSAIDs for inflammation and pain relief.  It is also great for bruising and muscle aches.  

Lavender

 

Lavender contains two inflammation-fighting compounds called linallool and linalyl acetate.  Research suggests that these may provide relief for a host of skin issues.  20 studies found that lavender oil increased the rate of wound healing, promoted collagen growth, and boosted the tissue remodeling process of the skin.

Tea Tree

 

Tea tree has many benefits for the skin.  It helps soothe dry skin by reducing itching and irritation.  It also has anti-septic and anti-inflammatory properties.  

Eucalyptus

 

Eucalyptus is well known for its anti-microbial properties.  It is also used in treating fungal infections and skin wounds.  It may act as a pain reliever and may also have analgesic properties according to research.  

Peppermint

 

A 2016 study found that topically applied peppermint increases blood flow.  It also provides a cooling sensation that can soothe dry lips.
